Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Challenge Tracker cost?
The application is completely free to use for all participants of the NRC Winter 200 Challenge.
Do you store my Strava password?
No. We never have access to your Strava password. Authentication is handled directly by Strava via their secure OAuth process. We only store the authorization token provided by Strava, which allows us to update your activities on your behalf.
What data do you access from my Strava account?
We request permission to read your profile for leaderboard display (name and picture), read your activities to calculate your total distance, and write to your activities to update the description with your challenge progress. We only process activities relevant to the challenge.
I signed up late. Will my previous runs from the challenge period be counted?
Yes. The first time you connect your account, we perform a one-time sync to find all your eligible runs since the challenge start date (June 16th). This total will be used in the description of your next uploaded run. However, we will not go back and edit the descriptions of activities you uploaded before you signed up for the tracker.
I already have a description on my activity. Will you overwrite it?
No, your existing description will not be overwritten. We will add the challenge progress as a new line at the beginning of your activity's description, preserving any notes you have already added.
My progress isn't syncing or updating. What should I do?
Please check the following: 1. Ensure the activity is a 'Run'. The tracker only counts running activities. 2. Verify the activity has distance data and occurred on or after June 16th. 3. There can sometimes be a small delay. Please wait a few minutes. 4. If it's still not working, confirm that 'Challenge Tracker' is listed and has access in your Strava settings here: https://www.strava.com/settings/apps
Which activities are counted towards my total?
Only activities marked as 'Run' on Strava that have GPS distance data and are recorded between June 16th and July 16th are included in your total.
How do I stop the service and unsubscribe?
You can revoke the application's access at any time directly from your Strava account. Navigate to your settings on Strava, find 'My Apps', and click 'Revoke Access' for the 'Challenge Tracker' application. You can find the page here: https://www.strava.com/settings/apps
Where can I see the official leaderboard?
The live leaderboard, showing the progress of all participants, is available on the main dashboard of the Challenge Tracker web application after you log in with your Strava account.
